Situation: We can reach this wadi linking to the Wadi Tiwi (long tour) or directly following Highway 23, taking a detour signposted from Al Kamil and Al Mintarib continue along a nice road for 24 kms until (after crossing a water signposted ) to a town that indicates (left) the correct path we will follow 7 kms to the parking marking the entrance of Wadi Bani Khalid.
One of the wettest wadis in Oman, Wadi Bani Khalid is truly an oasis where villages and plantations spread out across the fertile floor. We walk for 300 meters following a referral to a recreational area with lots of palm trees surrounding a huge pool which is a meeting place for families and visitors who enjoy this place.
We enter into eternal pools of clear water, which gives us this great wadi following a sign indicating our final destination, the Muqal Cave
Muqal Cave is a half-hour walk past the village of the same name near the end of the valley floor; it´s relatively easy to access, but a light and a helmet will be necessary to venture into the cave. Here, you will find bats (not to be disturbed) and falajs (subterranean water).
We then return to highway 23 and in brief moments we reach a new adventure, this time in the Desert.
